Alicia Villescas, PLMHP

I am a provisionally licensed mental health practitioner. I graduated with a Master of Science in Clinical Counseling in 2019. I have nine years of clinical experience across a variety of settings, including psychiatric residential treatment facilities, group homes, residential intensive community-based services, vocational services, structured outpatient programs, in-home support for foster youth and shared living providers, consultative assessment, safety planning, directing community-based programs, and crisis intervention. My experience encompasses working with at-risk youth and families, individuals with Intellectual and/or developmental disabilities, physical disabilities, disruptive behaviors, self-injurious behaviors, autism spectrum disorder, severe and persistent mental illness, comorbid disorders, co-occurring disorders, traumatic brain injury, and trauma.

As a therapist, I am warm, open, encouraging, and direct. I consider myself an active therapist combining experience, education, creativity, and a down-to-earth, realistic approach. I practice mindfulness meditation and focus on disrupting negative thought processes. Rather than adopting one methodology, I utilize an eclectic approach to draw from a variety of theories to create client-specific treatment goals. I know what it is like to harshly criticize yourself and to feel like everything is out of control. I am compassionate about helping others overcome their struggles with mental health. Successful therapeutic healing is a collaborative endeavor. I believe we are forever on the path of self-discovery, and the secret to healing is accepting where you are, forgiving yourself, and loving yourself. Life is tough, but so are you. You will be amazed at what you can attract when you start believing in what you deserve. Let us work together to reclaim your peace.
